Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill – 777 Ave L’Auberge, Lake Charles, LA 70601 (inside L’Auberge Casino Resort)
We’ve dished about this restaurant in a previous post, but it’s worth another mention. Get comfy with a beer or cocktail and catch the game on one of their many flat screen TVs or dine on the patio. No matter where you eat, be sure to order the chicken and sausage gumbo!
Blue Dog Cafe – 609 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601
This is a fun place to dine! The walls are adorned with artwork by famed artist George Rodrigue and the food is delicious. Items not pictured that you need to order – a hurricane for a cocktail, bag of cracklins for appetizer and crawfish enchiladas for your entree. And a bonus, Blue Dog Cafe has a Zydeco Lunch on Saturdays where you can enjoy Zydeco music from 11am-2pm.
The Lookout Restaurant – 2717 Delta Downs Drive, Vinton, LA 70668 (inside Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel)
What’s better than dinner with a view? You get just that at The Lookout Restaurant, which gives guests trackside views of live horse racing. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe so you can enjoy your food at leisure without feeling rushed.
La Truffe Sauvage – 815 W Bayou Pines Drive, Lake Charles, LA 70601
Fancy fine dining alert! This restaurant is tucked away in a cute cottage and offers a French infused menu. Now we must admit we were a bit spoiled on our visit as we were treated to a special five-course wine dinner. Yes, there was wine pairing with every course! We left full and happy! And the first course was literally perfect.
Chart House – 2550 Golden Nugget Boulevard, Lake Charles, LA 70601 (at the Golden Nugget Lake Charles Hotel & Casino
We dined here for Sunday brunch and were quite pleased. The restaurant is located directly next to a beautiful golf course and the food – right down to the complimentary pastries before the meal – was very good!
Crying Eagle Brewing Company – 1165 E. McNeese Street, Lake Charles, LA 70607
A true haven for craft beer connoisseurs, guests can tour the tap room and see where and how all the magic happens. In addition to the brews, Crying Eagle has a pretty nice set of food options at its bistro.
Bayou Rum Distillery -20909 South I-10 Frontage Road, Lacassine, LA 70650
Craft distilled from locally grown sugarcane, Bayou Rum really helps you take in the essence of Southwest Louisiana. Tours are available and allow you to learn the entire process of making rum. Oh yeah – and the tasting is the best part!
The Bekery – 206 W. 11th Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601
Got a sweet tooth? You need to get to The Bekery – misspelled on purpose as a play on the owner’s name Rebekah. They have savory options as well. All goods are baked fresh daily and are known to sell out!
Pops and Rockets – 104 W. Pujo Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601
From cassette tape wallpaper to neon colors, Pops and Rockets gives you all of the 80s feels. As if the ability to write cute sayings on colorful sticky notes and put them on the wall isn’t enough, the cute shop also offers up handmade gourmet pops and ice cream named after 80s songs and bands. Perfect break spot during the hot summer months.
