By The purpose of the Fantastic Voyage, also known as the “Ultimate Party With a Purpose!” is to “empower, entertain and inform.” Let’s just say it did that and then some!
The Fantastic Voyage 2016 sailed from Miami on the Carnival Breeze for eight wonderful days and nights, with travel to St. Thomas US Virgin Islands, St. Maarten and Grand Turk. Ford Motor Company returned as the title sponsor and more than 3,500 people joined the nonstop Party with a Purpose to make it another successful year for the historically black colleges and universities that receive a portion of the proceeds.
The featured entertainment included: Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle, New Edition, Charlie Wilson, Tamela Mann, Johnny Gill, Angie Stone, Jazmine Sullivan, Vivian Green, Faith Evans, 112, Carl Thomas, Total, Too Short, DJ Quik, Scarface, Bone, Thugs N Harmony, Force MDs, The Bar Kays, Con Funk Shun, Switch, Brick and Steve Arrington, and many more fantastic performers. The Fantastic Voyage also offered nonstop laughter with all-star comedic powerhouses including J Anthony Brown, Sherri Shepherd, Kym Whitley, Damon Williams, AJ Jamal, Rodney Perry and more. And I can’t forget about the theme nights on the ship (think White Night, Sneaker Ball, Pajama Night), empowerment seminars, art shows (shout out to renowned artist Frank Frazier), fitness, cooking demonstrations (Chef Jeff has an amazing story!) and book signings (Charlie Wilson wrote a must-read tell-all!)
