Food Trucks, Wall Art & 6th Street – Welcome to Austin

Let’s face it. Austin is fun. It has a lively, hipster artsy vibe. It’s known for its live music and festivals and has even been dubbed the “Live Music Capital of the World.” So we decided to take a quick road trip to our state’s capital (only a 2 ½ hour drive) and see what we could see.

We opted to stay at the Omni Downtown, within walking distance to all the clubs and bars on 6th Street. So, here’s our trip in pictures and captions!

Yup, we ran into Danny Trejo while getting dinner at the hotel! Of course we had to get a selfie. Can't wait to visit his food truck and restaurant in Los Angeles to get some bad ass tacos!

After our celeb sighting, we had dinner. It was actually very good!

And then we ventured down to 6th Street…

We wanted more views, so we drove to Oasis at Lake Travis. (Note: We enjoyed the scenic route which led us through all the ups and downs of hill country. Consider it a tame roller coaster ride!)

Welcome

So it just so happens out of the 365 days in the year, the very day we wanted to dine at the Oasis on Lake Travis restaurant and get the beautiful sunset view overlooking the lake, the restaurant closed early for their annual employee meeting. However, they allowed us up there for a minute to take pictures. Head on over to our Facebook page to see some of the views – even overcast, it was still beautiful!

After doing some research, we decided on Alcomar, a Latin-inspired seafood restaurant with a great happy hour menu, for dinner.

Our waiter Chris was awesome – he made some food and drink suggestions that we were more than happy with! Check out the goods …
