Family Style Dinner at Sud Italia

We have done our fair share of dining out. But one of the things we love most about it is the experience. Whether it’s catching up with friends over brunch, a much needed happy hour after work or date night with bae, there’s a reason people across the globe are always eating out!

2 Girls Who Travel love a good Italian family-style dinner. So we were super excited to be invited to a private tasting at Sud Italia last week to sample menu items from their Cena di Famiglia (Family Dinner) menu launching this week.

If you’re unfamiliar with family style dining, allow us to enlighten you. Everyone sits around the table and food is served in big serving dishes where everybody serves themselves (as opposed to individual plates).

This is exactly how we dined at Sud Italia, which will be celebrating its 3-year anniversary in April. It was a great time eating, drinking wine and catching up with our Houston Food Blogger Collective fam.

Executive Chef Maurizio Ferrarese is doing great things at the restaurant. Keep reading to see what we ate!

It’s hard to look away from this olive tapenade… but there’s more!
Octopus salad
Prosciutto and melon
This may look like chicken, but no – they’re fried mushrooms!
Salmon
Snapper
Mussels
These sausages tasted superb
Short rib ragout
Charred brussel sprouts
Not your typical tuna setup πŸ˜‰
And of course we can’t forget the wine!

Sud Italia is located at 2347 University Blvd. in Houston’s Rice Village District. And remember, all of these foods will be on their Family Dinner menu. Be sure to check it out!
