Hey yall, hey!
We’re back with another restaurant review. And we’re not sure how this one slipped the blog because it’s legit one of our favorite places to dine.
We’re talking about none other than State Fare Kitchen and Bar.
Having visited for Happy Hour, brunch and just a regular dinner, we can honestly say you need to go!
Now here’s why…
Drinks
Let’s talk about these drink selections first. We haven’t had a bad one yet. We can vouch for the State Fare Margarita (infused with Thai chili), their mimosas (all flavors) and their Happy Hour cocktails.
But the real deal are their flights…an awesome assortment of four frozen cocktails. We’re sure you’ve seen them all over Instagram because not only do they make beautiful pictures, they taste amazing!
They switch out their cocktail offerings often, so a flight is a great way to “sample” the drinks. They’re perfect to order to share with the table or hoard all for yourself (no judgment).
Each drink is a decent size and a flight of four will cost you only $12 — that’s a great value and the price of just one drink at many restaurants!

Food
Okay, now we clearly haven’t had everything on the menu, but we have sampled from each! Here are our recommendations!
- Frito Pie: Look, you need this in your life. State Fare’s frito pie comes with house-made chili (which is delicious), white queso and cheddar, jalapeno and onion. Even though this item is listed as an appetizer, it’s enough for an entire meal. Trust us, it’s huge!
- Grilled Cheese: Relax, there’s meat on it, too! Braised short rib to be exact and it’s tender and delicious. They also opt for gruyรจre cheese and cheddar…sooo good!
- State Fare Cheeseburger: Who doesn’t love a good ole cheeseburger? With all the fixins, this one does not disappoint!

If you’re itching to try State Fare, you’re in luck. They’re open today for Memorial Day serving brunch from 10am-2:30pm and dinner from 2:30-9pm.
State Fare is located at 947 Gessner, Ste. B190, Houston, TX 77024.ย ย
