It’s that time of year…
For two weeks, Houston will celebrate the influences black people have on its food scene.
Houston Black Restaurant Week is a two-week long event that celebrates the flavors of African American, African and Caribbean cuisines.
This year, it runs from April 14 through April 28. Throughout the two weeks, you can attend various events (more on those here) and dine at participating restaurants which will be offering special menus/pricing.
We’ve covered and participated in Houston Black Restaurant Week in the past and believe it’s a very worthwhile event.
So if you’re itching to try one of the restaurants, but don’t know where to begin, allow us to assist.
Here are some of the participating restaurants we’ve visited in the past and really enjoyed! Be sure to click the link to see our review of each restaurant.
- Kulture
- Neyow’s Creole Cafe
- B’s Wine Bar
- Turkey Leg Hut
- Poitin
- Esther’s Cajun Cafe & Soul Food
- Phil & Derek’s
We also highly recommend Mikki’s – one of our favorite soul food spots in Houston – and Boogie’s Chicago Style BBQ – order the rib tips and thank us later!
